Dejana Backović

Dejana Backović is a career diplomat, currently serving as First Secretary in the Embassy of Montenegro to the Republic of Italy, Malta and San Marino, and also accredited to the UN agencies based in Rome – UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Program (WFP), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), as well as International Development Law Organization (IDLO).
After graduation from the Faculty of Law at the University of Montenegro has completed an internship in the Secretariat for Legislation of the Government of Montenegro, and started her career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has developed additional diplomatic skills at the Diplomatic Academies in Berlin, Hague and Singapore.
In the past 7 years of her service in MFA was engaged in the International Law Department. The primary focuses of her work were on negotiations for concluding international agreements and the succession of international agreements conciliations process related to the former states of Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro, both in close collaboration with other competent Montenegrin authorities.
