Milena Šofranac Ljubojević is currently serving as Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of Italy.
She is a former director of the Directorate for Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Council of Europe (CoE) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro.
Former permanent member of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe in Montenegro and the National Coordinator for Cooperation and Implementation of OSCE projects in Montenegro. She took over this position after completing her mandate at the Embassy of Montenegro in the Kingdom of Belgium, where she served from 2015 to 2019. During her four-year diplomatic mandate in Brussels, where she also served as deputy Ambassador of Montenegro, she also covered the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on a non-resident basis. She was covering this same position in Brussels in 2011. Prior to her post in Brussels, she worked in the Directorate General for NATO in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was a Secretary of the Working Group for Negotiations with the European Union for Chapter 31 – Common Foreign and Security Policy. She started her career in MFA at the Directorate General for Consular Affairs. Milena Šofranac Ljubojevic completed bachelor studies and a postgraduate degree in international politics at the Faculty for Political Science at the Italian University “La Sapienza” and holds a Master degree in EU studies, University “LUISS Guido Carli”, both located in Rome, while she finished high school in San Francisco, United States of America. She is fluent in English and Italian and has knowledge of communication in French and Spanish.
