Bringing the world together

Young diplomats from all over the world, since 2008, gather in Montenegro to attend the Summer School for Young Diplomats “Gavro Vuković“ organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro.

The Summer School lay a particular emphasis on the role and significance of diplomacy in maintaining the international peace and security, overcoming crises and developing new models of economic, political and security cooperation in international arena. It is envisaged as centre of excellence for networking and sharing best practice in modern diplomacy, valuing learning, creativity and innovation.

The Summer school also provides an opportunity for young diplomats to get acquainted with the history, culture, as well as foreign policy priorities of the participating countries, and establish through learning, exchange of views and socializing, mutual rapport and the basis for future cooperation.

The first Summer School for Young Diplomats held in 2008 was among the few international fora at the time where the representatives of all Balkan countries could meet, exchange ideas and build mutual relations. Today, we are proud to have participants from all over the world, as well as prominent academics, ambassadors, politicians and state leaders attending the school.

Tribute to Gavro Vukovic

The Summer School pays tribute to the history and tradition as it bears the name of Duke Gavro Vuković. Duke Gavro Vuković was the Foreign Minister of the Principality of Montenegro from October 1899 to December 1905. Duke Gavro Vuković is one of the most significant political figures in modern history of Montenegro.
